What is YourMusicBusiness.co.uk?

YourMusicBusiness.co.uk (YMB) is a web resource created by Neon Street Limited for use by music students at Universities and Colleges in the UK to be inspired and to learn about business and enterprise within the Music Industry.  The main resources on YMB are video and audio case studies of working professionals from the Industry providing specialist inspirational advice and guidance to young people aspiring to build careers in the Music Industry.

YMB will provide young people with this knowledge and also provide resources for teachers and lecturers to help embed the content into their delivery to maximise impact on the students learning.

In Britain there is a growing issue of young people leaving education and not entering further training or employment (NEETS) which the government is trying to address; over 1 million young people are not in employment, education or training as of January 2012.    YMB will support young people in their career and enterprise development and address the issue of NEETS.

YMB is primarily a web based tool which will compliment education centres use of virtual learning environments (VLE) and the opportunity to deliver blended learning to a web savvy generation.

Why is it so great for students?

YourMusicBusiness.co.uk has gone to great lengths to create content using leading professionals within the music Industry.  These are people currently working in the industry and are up to date with this industry.  Using their own stories to transfer their knowledge and inspiration to the students in order to help and guide them on their own journeys.  The site will also allow students to:

  • Build a personal library of knowledge they can quickly refer to
  • Request content additions direct to YourMusicBusiness.co.uk
  • Identify what they need to do in order to get their career off the ground
  • Inspire the student to build their own business

The website and content has been designed to allow fast access through smartphones and tablet aswell as traditional computers.

YourMusicBusiness.co.uk will cover all the business and enterprise areas from modern popular music, classical music, music education, music therapy, song writing, session work, composition, production. Studio, live performance, event management, festivals and also some of the leading innovators developing the music industry.
